Walkthrough of Report Components (5 min)

• Navigate to the composite report “Learn-a-thon Income Statement Exercise” by searching for it in the Search box, then click on the report

• Open the composite report (without altering anything) and to see key elements:

  • Control Field

    •  The Control Field is configured for this report as the first column (C1).

  • Data Column/s

    • In C2-C3 are Data Columns – these columns display results from subreports

  • C2 pulls the current quarter from a subreport

  • C3 pulls the past quarter from a subreport

  • Run the report by clicking the “Run” button at the top right with the following parameters

    • Company: GMS USA

    • Translation Currency: USD

    • Account translation Rule Set: Consolidations

    • Period: "Dec 2023"

  • Note the following:

    • Results are organized by the Ledger Account on the left hand-side

    • Two columns display to the right

  • Edit the report by adding a new column Click on Columns tab

    • Add a “calculation” column

    • Create an expression

    • Click on Column Headings

    • Select cell “Header Row 2” / Column 4

    • Click “Create”

• Hands-on Modification Activity (5 min)

  • Hover over the report name Learn-a-thon Income Statement Exercise to use the Related Action > Custom Report > Copy

  • Rename the report by removing the “Learn-a-thon Income Statement Exercise - Copy” and replacing with your own initials

    • Leave checkbox Copy subreports empty

    • Click OK

    • Guide members to make a small change to the report, such as: Add a calculation column

    • Calculate difference between column2 and column3

    • Run the report before and after the change to see the impact.
